Acceptable terms used to refer to Deaf persons :
This term is also used for people who become profoundly Deaf such as the aged. People in this category would know a spoken language and may pick up Sign Language or rely on lip-reading for communication. Some identify themselves to the hearing world and some may feel lost between the hearing and the Deaf world.

DEAF
Encompasses all degrees of hearing loss and does not focus on what is wrong with the individual. Applied to all Deaf people whatever the hearing loss. This term is preferred by the Deaf Community.
This term is chosen by the Deaf themselves to show their identify.
